Delve is the Golang debugger. It allows us to add breakpoints to our code, r

un that code and be dropped into an interactive console in which we can interact with that code at runtime. It's the binding.pry of the Golang world.

oLang. First, let's create a simple web application in Go and setup the Docker container to run the web application. Step 1: Setup. Create a directory for the project. $ mkdir go-delve-docker-vscode $ cd go-delve-docker-vscode

There are a few projects you can use to debug your go applications. The one

most recommend is Delve as an alternative to the gdb. GDB is the GNU symbolic debugger and prior to delve this was the only way to actually debug Go programs. Luckily, that's not the case anymore and you can now combine Delve with VS Code quite easily.

There are some common cases when you might want to tweak the Delve configura

tions. To change the default cap of 64 on string and array length when inspecting variables in the Debug view, set maxStringLen. (See a related known issue: golang/vscode-go#126). To evaluate nested variables in the Run view, set maxVariableRecurse. Launch Configurations
