t (non-UPC) scanner system was installed in a Kroger in 1967 (and had problems). Is the bar code in question UPC? If so, it would appear sis-in-law is blowing smoke.

Theres 1 standard for barcodes where as in numbers you have fonts and whatno

t to worry about. Also the computer would have to look at the numbers and then assign it to a number. Also scanners for barcodes are a lot letter advanced then the ones you would use to recognise actual numbers.
